The Sign Management System maintains sign inventories (on road and off road) and information pertaining to sign inspections and maintenance activities. All information pertaining to each sign is easily viewable from the Sign Master File. From the Sign Master File, you can view all maintenance, inspections, materials, pictures, extended notes and GPS information.
Sign replacements are easily tracked by adding a sign from the “off road” sign inventory to the Materials page of the “on road” Sign record. You will have the option to save the replaced sign as “archived” when the Sign Number is changed. “Off road” inventory is reduced when it is entered on the Materials page of the “on road” sign record. “Replacement Date” and “Number of Replacements” fields are also updated. Reflectivity values are maintained on the Summary Page.
Pop up list selections make data entry simple. Inspections can be entered for each sign or for a range of signs on a road. Maintenance records track labor costs and material usage for each sign, included sign replacements. Work order and priority analysis reports are available. Pre-defined queries, numerous reports, and browses provide quick and easy access to all data maintained in this system.
This system contains the MUTCD Codes and pictures from the 2009 Manual on Traffic Control Devices. Select the appropriate MUTCD code when entering a new sign and the picture will be displayed on the Sign Inventory record, along with the information maintained in the MUTCD file.
Latitude and Longitude Values can be inserted into each record by using a NMEA compatible receiver connected to one of the serial ports. You can use it also with USB, Bluetooth and IrDa devices, because these devices have a driver that redirects the input from the USB or Bluetooth or IrDa port to a virtual serial port (you can check it in System/Device Manager/Ports).
Latitude and Longitude Values can also be retrieved from a geo-coded image. Select the geo-coded image and your sign inventory record will store the latitude and longitude values associated with the image. Select a menu option to add multiple geo-coded images to the sign inventory. Simply select the directory containing the geo-coded images and a sign inventory record will be created (with address information) for each image.
Sign Inventory, Maintenance and Inspection records can be exported to Excel Files on the System menu. These Excel files can be used by other GIS Systems you may have in place.
With ESRI ArcGIS Explorer Free Download, you can create your own maps, displaying all pertinent data for each sign. The Sign Layer can by saved, emailed or sent to ArcGIS Online.
