Error Number 1 – File (“file”) does not exist
The data file that the program is trying to use does not exist. This error is typically caused when the data location (System Menu/System Variables/Data Location) is either incorrect or cannot be accessed. If the data files reside on a server, make sure your computer is logged on to the server.

Error Number 5 – Record is out of range
Error Number 19 – Index file does not match table
Error Number 26 – Table is not ordered

Select Index Data Files on the System Menu. This procedure requires exclusive use of the data files, so all users should be logged off.

Error Number 12 – Variable (“variable”) not found
The variable the program is trying to use is not defined. This error typically occurs on a data entry screen when the data file the program is using does not contain all fields on the data entry screen. Data file structures are changed periodically (new fields added). Select Run System Update on the System Menu and then Index Data Files on the System Menu to update the data files in your data location to the current level. (see Most Common Problems when loading Software Update below)

Error Number 15 – Not a table/dbf file
Error Number 41 – MEMO file is missing/invalid

The data file that the program is trying to use contains an improper header. This error is most often caused by improper shutdown of the computer, power surges, or other computer hardware problems. To resolve this problem:
1. You must know where you data files reside. Select (System Menu/System Variables/Data Location) to view the location of your data files.
2. If the file, HF.EXE, exists in the data directory:
a. Goto START/RUN
b. Type C:\PGSDATA HF *
where C:\PGSDATA is your data directory
If the file, HF.EXE, does not exist in the data directory:
a. Copy the file, HF.EXE, to the data directory.
If HF.EXE does not reside on your computer, you can copy it from the 2001 Update CD-ROM. It
will be located in the folder, \MISC.
b. Goto START/RUN
c. Type C:\PGSDATA HF *
Where C:\PGSDATA is your data directory
3. Run Index Data Files on the System Menu

· Note — If your office owns another utility program that will repair damaged data files, this utility program can be used instead of HF.EXE

Error Number 43/1282 – Insufficient Memory (patch applied in 1999-probably not an issue now)
There was not enough memory for Foxpro to complete an operation. While this error may be the result of insufficient memory, it was also occurring on some new, fast computers (pentium 150MHZ+) when using certain popup screens (using F10). This error occurred when the file being used for the popup contained more than 600 records (Road Master File). Miscrosoft put out a bulletin describing the problem and offered solutions. The popup screen for selecting Roads has been modified to eliminate this insufficient memory error. Please contact us if you experience this error on any popup screen.

Error Number 107 – Operator/operand type mismatch
This error typically occurs on a data entry screen when the data file the program is using does not contain all fields on the data entry screen. Data file structures are changed periodically (new fields added). Select Run System Update on the System Menu and then Index Data Files on the System Menu to update the data files in your data location to the current level.

Error Number 1705 – File Access Denied
The program is attempting to use a file that is being used exclusively by another user or the file has a READ ONLY attribute. Most programs do not require exclusive use of the data files; however, the INDEX DATA FILES procedure on the System Menu does require exclusive use of the data files. Make sure all users are logged off and select RETRY from the red error screen. If the file has a READ ONLY
attribute, this attribute will need to be removed.

Startup Error – An error has occurred in your program… Select IGNORE to continue…
(patch applied in 1999-probably not an issue now)
The Foxpro Support Library was upgraded (patch supplied by Microsoft) at the end of 1999 to correct this problem. This problem occurred on machines with processor speeds of 333 megahertz and higher. Our standard updates currently do not include the Foxpro Support Library files. These files do not change often and were included in the updates sent in 1999. The Foxpro Support Library files are included on the yearly Update CD-ROM in \FOXFILES folder. If your office is experiencing this startup error, you will need to copy the files from this folder to your program directory. Please call our office for assistance.

Most Common Problems when loading Software Update:
1. The program did not get updated. The update has probably been installed to an incorrect location. To find the correct location: Right Click on Icon and then Left Click on Properties. The program directory will be displayed by Start In:. The default program directories are listed on the installation instructions, but this location can be changed when the program is originally installed. The update needs to be loaded on all users’ computers. The loading step of the installing an update replaces the old program files with the current program files. You must select (Y)es or (A)ll to the warning messages regarding overwriting existing files.

2. The data files did not get updated. To update data files, you must select Run System Update and then Index Data Files from the System Menu AFTER the update has been installed. If all users are sharing the same data (Ex. data is on the server), the System Update and Index procedures only need to be run one time. The Run System Update procedure will update the existing data files to the current level. After this is done, Index Data Files to recreate the indexes for the updated files.
** Note on 2 above **
All files in the NEWPEOMS and OLDPEOMS folders (subdirectories of the program folder) need to be overwritten. Please remove any READ ONLY attribute from these files. The READ ONLY attribute may be present if the files were copied from a CD-ROM (loading new computer). Using Windows Explorer, locate these directories. Select EDIT, then SELECT ALL FILES. Right click and select PROPERTIES. Remove the READ ONLY ATTRIBUTE and then RELOAD the software update. If the data files do not get updated properly, you will most likely receive a RED SCREEN with an error 12 (Variable Not Found). This is due to the fact that a new field can not be found in the data file.
